    Later the Mughal rulers made some further modifications to enhance the lake. Near the lake is the Daulat Bagh, a garden set out by Emperor Jahangir. Emperor Shah Jahan later added five pavilions, called as the Baradari, among the garden and the lake. The lake is an interesting family outing spot. An island lies in the middle of the lake.

    At a distance of 500 m from Ajmer Dargah Sharif and 1.5 km from Ajmer Junction Railway Station, Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra is an ancient mosque situated near Dargah Sharif in Ajmer town of Rajasthan. It is one of the oldest mosques in India and also the oldest surviving monument in Ajmer. The site is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.

    The Prithviraj Smarak is a memorial to Prithviraj Chauhan, the great hero of the Rajput Chauhan dynasty. Located on the Taragarh Road in Ajmer, the memorial has a statue of the king in black stone, mounted on a horse. Prithviraj Chauhan has been shown with a bow and arrow in his hand.

    Akbar's Palace was built in 1570 AD by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar. It was built to serve as a home to the King during his visits and pilgrimages to Ajmer. During the British occupation in Ajmer, Akbar's Palace was converted into a munitions house and then renamed as the Rajputana Arsenal.

    One of the exceptional examples of Islamic design, this semi-octagonal Darwaza towers, displaying the glory of Akbar’s reign. This tall structure was constructed to celebrate the triumph of Akbar’s victory over Khandesh and Ahmednagar in 1576. At a height of about 176 feet, this enormous gateway is the southern entry to the J Dargah Sharif.

    Nasiyan Temple, built in 1865 is located at Prithvi Raj Marg in Ajmer. It is also known as Lal Mandir (Red Temple). Dedicated to Lord Adinath, the first Jain 'tirthankara', the temple is a two-storied structure. Divided into two parts, the temple belongs to the Digamber sect.

    Ajmer is nearly 132 km away from Jaipur and about 388 km from Delhi. There are plenty of buses available from Ajmer to Delhi and Jaipur.There are both AC and Volvo buses running.

    The city is well connected by the railways so you are welcome to take a train to Ajmer Railway junction, which is the nearest railway station. There are superfast trains, express and mail trains to Ajmer.
